The Shirley Chisholm Project wants to honor and recognize the incredible Sonia Sanchez, who celebrates her 90th birthday today.
A renowned poet, educator, and activist, Dr. Sanchez graced the Shirley Chisholm Project as our keynote guest for our 50th anniversary celebration of Shirley Chisholm’s election to Congress. In this clip from the conference, Dr. Sanchez shares her poem “9 Haiku: For Freedom’s Sisters.”
