To to the victims of the shooting in Jeffersontown, Kentucky:

Vickie Jones

Maurice Stallard

Rest in peace.

Anti-Semitism motivated the massacre which took place a few days ago in the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

And in Jeffersontown, KY a couple weeks ago, a different shooter killed Mr. Stallard and Ms. Jones (both African-American) after planning and failing to launch an assault on a nearby Black congregation at First Baptist Church.

Both tragedies remind us of the work that still must be done by us all—elected officials, community leaders and normal citizens alike. But, even as we all strive to make a safer society and a more humane world, no commitments to the future have the power to reverse the violence that has already been done this past week, nor can they bring back the precious lives that have already been lost.

Therefore, we want to recognize and remember them today.
