On Monday, March 27th, The Shirley Chisholm Project will host the first event in its Conversation Series: The Battlefront is the Classroom – A Discussion on Racial Equity in Education, Culture Wars & the Fight for Independent Schools.

Shauna Brown is the owner and founder of Teach for the Culture, LLC, a global brand and educational consulting firm dedicated to creating just, equitable, affirming, and culturally rich academic learning experiences and environments for young people. 

A graduate of Temple University (Bachelors in Education), Columbia University (Masters in Urban Education and Policy), and CCSU (with an advanced degree in Educational Leadership), Shauna has served in public education for over two decades. 

In addition to her experience as a classroom teacher, Shauna has served as an Instructional Coach, a Consultant for the State Department of Education, and a School Administrator for 10 years. She helped to lead the design and opening of an award-winning STEM Magnet School for students in Grades 6-12, and has been the recipient of numerous awards including; Teacher of the Year, Community Impact in Education, and 100 Women of Color. Most importantly, Shauna is the proud mother of a teenaged son. She enjoys traveling, photography, and trying out new recipes.
