The United Negro College Fund will give its highest award in the name of Shirley Chisholm at their upcoming “A Mind Is…” gala where they recognize “Game Changers” in education.

From Black America Web:

The late Shirley Chisholm, the New York congresswoman who ran for president in 1972, is going to be posthumously honored with a special tribute and newly minted award in her name. Not only was Chisholm the first and only black woman to run for president, but she was the first black woman elected to Congress. The inaugural Shirley Chisholm Award will be presented to UNCF alumni who have participated in the Teach for American program.  Chisholm was a lifelong advocate for education in both Congress and as an administrator and a college professor.
