Assemblyman N. Perry Leads Brooklyn College Celebration of Second Annual Shirley Chisholm Day, Scholarship

Students, faculty and special guests joined in a shared remembrance of the life of Shirley Chisholm, class of 1946 and a true American pioneer, as the campus celebrated the second annual Shirley Chisholm Day last week. Sponsored by the Brooklyn College Women's Studies Program and the Shirley Chisholm Center for Research on Women, the annual event commemorates the extraordinary life of Ms. Chisholm who was the first African-American woman elected to Congress and the first woman from a major political party to run for the presidency.
